Here at Swift, feedback is key and we always considered it a fabulous opportunity to be able to revisit any completed garden room, particularly when in full swing. So, as you can imagine, Martin was both delighted and honoured to be invited, alongside our local MP David Rutley, to the ‘Grand Opening Ceremony’ of Worth Primary School’s newest Pre-school classroom. To be able to enjoy the smiling faces of toddlers and teachers and to be asked to participate in this special event is quite a testimonial in itself!
Nestled in the grounds of Worth Primary School in Poynton, Worth Pre-School’s latest addition is far removed from the post war ‘prefab’ classroom buildings that you may remember from the school grounds of your youth…
When Worth School first spoke to us about creating some extra classroom space for the pre-schoolers their requirements were quite fundamental. They were hoping for an inviting room that would be ideal for both one to one learning and for small groups.
Although the school approached several companies, Martin worked his usual design magic and managed to succeed in creating a space that fell in line with the optimum size and design requirements.
The back of the building sits on the main school grounds, so the strength and robust nature of the larch cladding adds to the much-needed durability, whilst achieving a modern and elegant look…certainly an eye catching first impression! In keeping with Swifts SIP system of construction, the finished room is perfect for all year-round use and is likely to outperform a traditionally built classroom with its enviable insulation properties and air tightness. It has a stunning wall of three large sliding doors looking out onto the pre-schoolers garden which adds a sense of openness to the room and allows the light to flood in.
As the foundations for learning are being built daily through structured activities and free play in a stimulating, safe environment, enabling children to reach their full potential and flourish as individuals….Worth’s Pre- School staff have done a fabulous job of creating a warm and enticing retreat for its little visitors, furnishing the classroom with brightly coloured rugs, oversized patterned cushions and with the addition of low surface temperature radiators, comfort is achieved on many levels!
Of course, no pre-schoolers classroom would be complete without an abundance of books and toys (you can never have enough toys!), but an important sense of order and structure is also achieved with the use of clever storage…brightly coloured boxes, shelves and built in cupboards.
The feedback from the School speaks for itself…
“The pre-school are more than happy with their new classroom and now have a warm, bright and quiet new room”
“We are delighted with our new garden room for Worth Pre-School. The project has been a dream from design to handing over the keys. Nothing has been too much trouble and we would not hesitate to recommend Swift to any other schools.”
After much deliberation between teachers, parents and students this special little hub of learning has been aptly named ‘The Snug’….we love it!
Martin had the opportunity to relax and chat with some of the young children before the actual ceremony and cherished the moment as big eyes and small voices listed their favourite activities in the new “Snug”. Reading, stories, puppet shows and the special tent were top of the list, and they all said what a warm and cosy place it is to be!
