Eco Garden Rooms

We cannot continue to ignore the human impact upon the planet. We simply have to make choices that reverse the damaging processes that are damaging this planet upon which we rely for survival. It is as simple as that.

Swift make Eco Garden Rooms that don’t compromise upon quality or comfort. We do not claim to produce completely carbon neutral buildings but we do promise to examine all the processes and materials that we utilise and make the right choices for your happiness and the world’s survival.

An Eco Garden Room is a title that we are very comfortable with. For a start, look at the main building elements that we use. The floors, walls and roof are primarily made from Structurally Insulated Panel Systems (SIPS). These are a sandwich of Orient Strand Board (OSB) which is a compressed amalgam of chips and slithers of wood that utilise what would often have been waste in the timber industry. The filler between the two outer sheets of OSB is insulating foam that is bonded to the outer skins producing an incredibly strong and robust panel. These are joined with further timber splines and the completed shell is often clad in beautiful Western Red Cedar. All the timber we use comes from plantations managed by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This endures the sustainability of this resource.

The end product has been produced with minimum waste, excellent efficiency and less damage to the environment. Furthermore, and we believe just as important is the benefit that many of our buildings have upon personal carbon footprints. If you work from an office in your garden, you simply take a few paces to the office. The car, trains and buses are redundant! When you use a room that is so well insulated you require minimal heat to keep comfortable. Maybe you will use it as a Gym... great, because once again you aren’t driving for fifteen minutes using the cars energy in order to enjoy using some of your own!

Swift encompass the concept of Eco Garden Rooms. Sometimes it is the little touches that make all of the difference and make you feel justifiably more comfortable with your new environment. The fact that we have storage facilities to minimise the amount of waste on every build, enables us to lower the amount of landfill and make proper use of materials that have been carbon – greedy in their production. The fact that we spend so much time planning your building, reduces over-ordering to a minimum and hence reduces costs and waste. We even minimise the amount of paper that we have to use in our offices and recycle every scrap that we can!
