The new offices will enable Swift to employ more team members to handle their increasing business as well as provide a meeting room where clients can come and discuss their projects, view materials and see illustrations of their buildings on massive projected images.

We are delighted to have reached this stage in our companies development and it will enable us to provide an even better and more personal service to our clients, whether they be local or, as increasingly the case, from anywhere in the UK.

This in itself is a great achievement, especially as the people who nominated us are the building control officers themselves.

After years of plannng, then months of seeking planning permission, and finally starting work in mid February, the finishing line is in site…. on site.  The main structure is complete and the elements that make all the difference are now talking place.

Decorators are starting to beautify the walls and ceilings; fixtures and fittings are all being installed and the pathways and exterior will soon be receiving the final touches.

Just as important is that word is spreading through the area about this fantastic new facility. A whole range of activities will soon be transforming this building into a place of music, arts and creativity.  We will be proud to promote the centre on these pages and we can certainly vouch for the virtues of taking a break in this beautiful area of Yorkshire.

Certainly a few eyebrows have been raised at how a building that was initially created and fabricated off-site has grown into such a stunning studio. The “Grand Design” style approach has produced an eco-friendly and efficient structure, and one which through careful design and construction, melts into the surroundings.

Swift are proud to be involved in this project and hope that our attention to detail and flexible approach will help create a vibrant and successful centre.

The main structure was completed in a few days, and since then the builders have been busy with more traditional tasks, but with a twist.

The main fabric of the building is constructed from pre-prepared SIP panels… one of the strongest, most durable and efficient building materials available. But whilst it has amazing properties, it isn’t a attractive finish.  That is where local tradesmen have stepped in and have the roof covered in traditional English Pantiles.  Common in this area, they have a striking red colour and a dramatic pattern.  This contrasts well with the special conservation roof-lights.

It was always a desire to have the walls match the surroundings.  However, with differing stone finishes on the mill and the outbuildings, it would have been a great challenge to create a perfect match.  Added to that is the relative scarcity of suitable stone and the very high costs involved in purchase and application.

So, an alternative was sourced.  A high-end product imported from America which is a beautiful stone veneer product that has impressed everyone.  An experienced fitter spent a week skillfully applying each section and pointing the gaps in a traditional manner.  The result is causing quite a stir… it looks fantastic and perfectly matches the surroundings.

The scaffolding will be down in a week or so and we will post photographs of the building that will, before long, witness creative arts and activities.

These are the awards that mean so much, because the nominated building projects are put forward by local building control officers.

This validates Swift as a key player in the developing and wide ranging use of SIPs panels as a dramatic and inspiring building system.  Our attention to detail and focus on the best solutions are exactly the same whether building a nursery school or a garden office.

Great news in this mornings post.  Swift’s building project at the Footprints Day Nursery in Bollington, Cheshire, has been nominated for the 2012 Building Excellence awards.

This is a regional heat for a national event organised by Local Authority’s to promote and recognise quality builders and building throughout England and Wales.  It is a massive achievement just to reach this stage because we have been nominated by local building inspectors… the guardians of quality and standards in local development.

The project saw us commence work on a prepared foundation slab at the start of the worst winter we have had for years.  Within a couple of weeks (the middle of November 2011) Swift had the main structure erected and then the ice and snow came!  Despite awful weather, the team kept their focus to have the first children coming through the doors as soon as possible.

By the end of January, the doors were open and business was started.  A fully equipped and beautifully presented modern nursery school for the local children. Close liaison with the clients and a permanent eye for detail produced a speedily erected and highly attractive building that is now a huge local success.

The Skeeby project enters the third week of the main construction, following the excellent groundwork that was completed earlier.  And it is worth noting that the slab, that massive piece of concrete, is a vital to the ease of installation and success of the project.  The accuracy of this element was within 5mm across over 15000mm! That is a great example of accurate workmanship and meant that the main elements of the building had a perfect base from which to grow.

More photos will follow soon, as the roof covering is completed and the whole building is made completely watertight and work inside starts in earnest.

This picture was taken on Wednesday on a bright and beautiful Yorkshire morning and shows the main walls in place, plus stacks of roof panels ready to be lifted, glued, screwed and nailed into permanent place. Now (Friday evening) the main structure is complete and the building is entering the second phase of the project.

Two large lorry loads delivered the pre-fabricated sections of this new performing arts studio.  A couple of hours after stacking and sorting the panels into order, the locating timber plates were being lined up and fixed onto the damp proof membrane on the concrete slab.  Shortly after, the first panels were lifted into place and fixed…. each one being double checked for position and accuracy.  Laser beams and expertise combine to make the job flow and become a perfect structure.

Inspections by building inspectors give more thumbs up, and the work continues at a pace that makes most “Grand Designs” tv programmes look positively lethargic!

All Swift Buildings share the same attention to detail, from the factory preparation through to the installation and handover.

The Consumer Protection Agency are the body who provide Swifts insurance-backed warranties and deposit security. An important part of their role is to keep in constant touch with our clients to ensure that Swift are working effectively and honestly.  All of our clients are asked, upon completion of the project, how they rate our work.

Whether it is a Garden Room or an extension , Swift are judged by our clients comments on the post-completion questionnaire.  The four key areas that are examined are
